1. Team composition
• Total squad strength of 16 players plus one physio and a coach
• No more than 8 foreign players in the squad and at most 4 in the playing XI
• A minimum of 4 local players must be included in each team
• Not less than 4 players from the BCCI under-22 pool in each team

2. Player Auction
o Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag have been accorded the status of icons and are not open for bidding. Hence, they can witness the auction while the other players cannot.
o Bidding shall be among the rest of the 77 contracted players, who have been divided into eight categories. Categories A-D have a general distribution of top rung players. While E comprises wicketkeepers, F has all-rounders, G has specialist batsmen and H has specialist bowlers.
o Each of them have been assigned a base annual salary, which is the price on which open bidding is held to decide the final price. Teams are allowed a maximum spending limit of US$ 5 million for purchase of players.
o Under-22 players shall have a minimum annual salary of US$20,000 while for others it is US$50,000. Icons are paid 15% more than the highest paid player in the auction.
o Further, Cricket Australia has demanded that no team should buy more than 2 Cricket Australia centrally contracted players or more than 2 players from the same state association of Cricket Australia.
o All further trading of players in the next three years shall be carried out only in the months of February
o No foreign players may be bought prior to the auction
