IPL Mumbai Confident Of Pulling Crowds

IPL Mumbai franchise owner Reliance has said that with the right marketing large crowds will fill the stands in the IPL tournament. All said and done the IPL is a domestic tournament with 8 cities in India participating. So, when the long established Duleep and Ranji trophies hardly get a few hundred specators will more come for IPL?

The Reliance Retail Chief R. Balanchandran, said with all due respect when was the last time any thing done to promote these domestic tournaments. Not one bit. So, how can you expect crowds. But the IPL will be a compressed calendar cricket tournament featuring top talent from every part of the world and you can expect a whirlwind of promotion from all stake holders and the crowds will pack the stands particularly after the recent success of the Indian team in major tournaments - tri-series in Australia and under-19 world cup.

second round of auction for some players who were not offered in the first round is to take place on March 11. Some English players who have evinced a keen interest in the IPL are also likely to be offered in the auction. In the initial round no English cricket was on the auction block. This was because of an agreement between ECB and BCCI as the English cricket season coincides with the IPL and they did not want any conflict of interest between the two.

The auction will be open only those teams which have money left for buying players like the IPL Jaipur team that spent less than the minimum $3.5 million dollars.

It is bigger than the Kerry Packer Revolution and its popularity and the kind of money being poured by the franchisees who are all hard-headed businessmen only proves how big it is going to be.
India is now the new power center of cricket. It’s good that cricketers are getting paid good sums of money.
